Monday July, 26 4:30am-Airplane to Delhi
So it has been an adventure so far. I started in Tulsa on Saturday afternoon and was supposed to be getting into Delhi around 11 on Sunday night. As you can read that did not happen. I met up with one of my partners, Alissa, in Dallas and were going to fly together the entire time. We were also supposed to meet our other teammates in London and all fly together on the last leg. I am not a big fan of the London airport. We got off the plane and bussed to the terminal. There we couldn’t find anything with our gate number for our flight. The only sign I could find was one that said all British Airways flight went out of terminal 3, we were in 5. We had a little over a hour to get to our gate and we felt comfortable that we could do that. Got on the tram to the next terminal and then had to go through security once more there, which was annoying. Once there we looked at a flight schedule and didn’t notice our flight on there. So we asked someone. They told us that our flight was going out of terminal 5. Now we were worried. It was 9:20 and had 15 minutes to get back and to the first checkpoint so they could know we were there. We had to be there by 9:35. We got there at 9:38. Yes we missed our flight. We really weren’t sure what we were going to do. So we went up to BA counter and begin our first journey of the trip. The next flight wasn’t until 5:30 that night and it was all booked up, so were the two flights the next day. Our only hope was that someone would not make their flight and we could get on. We both got put on standby for a flight leaving at 5:35 pm. Now we waited. We went and grabbed some breakfast and found a nice place to sit down and attempt to take a nap. We were successful on the napping. We found some nice chairs and settled in for a 7 hour wait. We napped off and on and got up to stretch our legs on the occasion. Then the moment of truth came. We walked up to the counter at 4:50 like we were told to find out if there were any openings. There was one. Alissa got the first ticket and was just hoping there would be a second. They sent me down to the gate to wait. Alissa had already gotten onto the bus to head to plane when my name was called. There was one more seat. It was a blessing. So I hopped on the bus and was ready to get going. Come to find out when we got to plane that we had been bumped up a class. We fell like were in a whole new world here. Bigger seats, more room, and just over all more comfortable. We fell very blessed. The big problem is that instead of getting in at 11:00 at night we are getting in at 7:00 in the morning. Although we rested in the airport and on the plane we know we’re going to be tired all day. While in the airport we were able to email our contact and Delhi and let her know what was going on, I just pray she got it. We are about 2 hours outside of Delhi right now. I hope that this will be our last adventure for a while, but I imagine that this is only the first of many yet to come.
